JAN COOPER

Independent.  Jan Cooper has been working in Houghton Regis for nearly 20 years and has a good idea of the issues that the town faces on a daily basis. Jan sees the main issues facing Parkside as poor policing, illegal motorbikes, traveller flow, nuisance and careless young people, and fly-tipping.
Jan says, “I will listen first and then act on what I hear.” Jan Cooper holds a Masters qualification in Community Development, is a qualified Youth Worker,  a qualified Community Worker, a Fellow at RSA, and has forty years experience of working with people. She is a Mother, GrandMother, Friend, Dog Walker. In the past 2 years, Jan launched SafeLand and supports the 17 groups dotted around the town, has organised Neighbourhood Watch for Houghton Regis “Eyes and Ears”, edited the monthly copies of The Clanger Houghton Regis, is the admin at Facebook's Houghton Regis Whats Occurring. ALAN CORKHILL

Conservative. “I have lived in Dunstable and Houghton Regis for many years. I care about my local communities in both towns. That is why I've decided to stand up. As a conservative candidate, if elected, I promise to serve Dunstable and Houghton Regis to the best of my ability. Many of you know me, I have high ethical standards and I am a committed Rotarian. I am readily available with both my email and mobile number on the current leaflets in circulation.” (Source - Alan Corkhill)

TONI RYAN

Labour. Toni was elected councillor for Parkside in Houghton Regis, her home town, in 2015. As a councillor, she most enjoys working with other people who also want to make a difference locally. She says “The enthusiasm from the community keeps me motivated, as does seeing change happen and fighting to improve lives for the people who are the most in need. This consists of highlighting issues, not only to the Council but also to the public on cuts to early help, lack of social mobility, the impact on schools of changes in funding. In all these areas, I have managed to gain support and acknowledgement through the Council. Most of our progressive strategies locally have been overshadowed by the current cuts and funding difficulties imposed by this right-wing government.” (source Labour website)

RAY  MORGAN

A devoted family man, Ray has a passion for helping young people and for open green spaces. He has been delighted with the recent restoration and enhancement of Houghton Hall Park. Ray was, amongst other things, a delivery driver, an opinion researcher and a political agent before retirement. He now spends his time taking part in / helping to organise cycling events, both in this country and on the continent. (Source: email)
