Mayor Clare Raises Funds for Firefighters and Armed Forces Charities

The outgoing Mayor of Houghton Regis has announced the sums of money her nominated charities have received this year. 

Mayor Cllr Clare Coplestone is delighted to announce that a grand total of £2,400.00 has been raised for her chosen charities, SSAFA  (the armed forces charity) and firefighters999 (the firefighters charity). 

Mayor Clare tweeted on Friday, “Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout my mayoral year. This money will truly help to make such a difference.”

A cheque for £1237.00 is presented to SSAFA. 

Clare was joined on the 11th May by Beds Fire and Rescue Service for the presentation of the cheque for £1,163.00 to the firefighters charity.

In a tweet, Clare wrote, “The last award I presented was to Bex McBrearty at "Time to Connect" for supporting our older generations within the community. Bex is a kind, caring individual who truly cares about making a positive difference for our elderly residents. Congratulations Bex. Keep up the great work.”

In addition, Mayor Clare tweeted, “This week I made a surprise visit to the youth pop up cafe at the pavilion to present awards to the amazing youth workers providing our young people with engaging activities, help & support. Thank you so much for all that you do for our young people in Houghton Regis.”
