Air Ambulances Called to Houghton Regis

Many people take the Air Ambulance service for granted thinking it is funded by the NHS. But actually, air ambulances rely on charity. And your fundraising is the reason Essex & Herts Air Ambulance continues to help save lives.

Essex & Herts Air Ambulance have twice been to Houghton Regis, recently.

On 14th September 2021, an Essex & Herts Air Ambulance rapid response vehicle was tasked to assist EEAST and Hertfordshire Constabulary with a male medical emergency. Teams worked together on the scene to optimise patient outcomes. The patient was transferred to a trauma unit for ongoing treatment.

On 12th October 2021, an Essex & Herts Air Ambulance rapid response vehicle was tasked to assist EEAST, with a female patient medical emergency. Teams worked together on the scene to optimise patient outcomes. The patient was transferred to the emergency department for ongoing treatment.

MAGPAS

Magpas Air Ambulance is another air ambulance charity serving Houghton Regis, operating 24/7 and, on average, answers four calls for help a day treating around 900 patients in life-threatening emergencies every year.

MAGPAS services the communities of Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and across the East of England and are dispatched by both the East of England and the East Midlands Ambulance Service Trusts – caring for a population of over 10 million.

In September 2018, MAGPAS  Doctor Steve Corry-Bass and Paramedic Steve Chambers landed in Houghton Regis via the Magpas Air Ambulance. They had been called to treat a boy who had been injured in a collision between a car and bicycle.

Magpas Air Ambulance is not a state-funded service and relies on generous public donations to continue saving lives.
