Housebuilder is providing rewards to kind-hearted hedgehog lovers in Bedfordshire

A housebuilder in Bedfordshire is rewarding charitable visitors at two of its local housing developments to help promote a more sustainable environment for hedgehogs.

As part of Mulberry Homes’ ethos to create safer spaces for local wildlife, the developer is handing out hedgehog highway signs along with instruction cards on how to create a hedgehog hole of your own.

These rewards will be provided to visitors who make a donation to local hedgehog sanctuaries at Maulden Ridge, off Clophill Road in Maulden or Manor Heath, off Heath Park Road in Leighton Buzzard.

At Maulden Ridge, a collection is currently being held for Hedgehugs Rescue and Rehabilitation, which is based in Sharnbrook and helps to rehabilitate abandoned hedgehogs across Bedfordshire.

At Manor Heath, visitors can make donations to Wyboston-based Spiny Normans Hedgehog Support – a rescue that runs a ‘hogspital’ to help hedgehogs from all across the county.

Kerry Jones, Sales and Marketing Director at Mulberry Homes, said, “As a responsible housebuilder, we believe in the importance of implementing key sustainable features to support the wildlife which lives in the communities where we build our new homes.

“Hedgehog holes and signs have been installed across our two developments in Bedfordshire to help one of the country’s most adored animals roam from garden to garden freely.

“We hope our incentive will encourage people not only to donate but to create a hedgehog highway of their own, which will help local hedgehogs to receive better access to shelter and food.”
