Ker-Ching! Over £500,000 Allocated to Central Bedfordshire Colleges For Refurb Work

Further education colleges in South West Bedfordshire are to receive over half a million pounds to repair and refurbish buildings and campuses.

Andrew Selous MP has welcomed the announcement that Central Bedfordshire College in South West Bedfordshire will benefit from £515,390 to upgrade its facilities.

The funding announced this week comes from the £200 million announced by the Prime Minister in June as part of his New Deal for Britain, helping the nation bounce back from coronavirus by investing in infrastructure and skills, and creating jobs. The Chancellor of the Exchequer pledged £1.5 billion in his last budget to upgrade the further college estate over the next five years.

Commenting, Andrew Selous MP said, “I am delighted that Central Bedfordshire College will be receiving £515,390. Further education plays a vital role in unlocking talent and potential of thousands of young people, and those returning to education once again, in local communities both in South West Bedfordshire and across the country.

“This funding will ensure our colleges have the investment and resources it needs to deliver a world-class further education system, that will open up opportunity and deliver a workforce that will help get Britain back on its feet.”
