Why Can't The Tidy Tips Be Opened?

Why Can't The Tidy Tips Be Opened?
It was a fair question, so we put this to Central Bedfordshire Council.

This was their response:

“The safety of customers and staff is very important, therefore in accordance with current Government coronavirus guidelines of avoiding non-essential contact, preventing risk of infection to others, and only leaving the home when strictly necessary, the sites are closed including the commercial site at Thorn Turn.

“Any large items such as furniture, wood and metals that residents have should be held onto until the sites re-open.

“Do not put any electrical items in any of your bins at home. Where possible residents should compost grass cuttings and hedge trimmings at home or alternatively keep your garden waste until sites re-open. Find out information on how to compost.

“Please do not leave any waste outside the recycling centres. This is classed as fly-tipping and is a criminal offence, for which offenders will be prosecuted.

A tradesperson wanted to know what he could do.

CBC spokesperson said, “Collection of trade waste is not a council responsibility.”

“The sites will not re-open until the Government advice changes.”
