Children can learn how to write songs and create their own music

Due to popular demand another Songwriting and Composition Course is being run for young people from 22nd – 25th July (10am-3pm each day) by Inspiring Music.

Your child can learn to compose music in the style of their choice with the three well renowned course tutors Jon Kendall, Joel Blunden and Daniel Johnson at the Grove Theatre in Dunstable.

Sign up for the course.

During the 4 days your child will:

  • learn how to create original music
  • play a range of instruments such as guitars (acoustic, electric and bass), drums, keyboard and voice
  • explore song themes and lyric writing
  • record and produce their own music
  • perform in front of friends and family

Cost: £120 (£30 per day) and, for families on a lower income, there is financial assistance available through the Friends of Bedfordshire Youth Music, which could help towards the cost of the course.

Hear the songs that have already been created

Back in April, the first songwriting and composition course was held, which saw a group aspiring young musicians, who had never met or written a song before, collaborate to write three tunes and learn the skills – including lyrics, performing on instruments and overseeing the stylistic nuances – that they could use to continue creating music.

Student Ellie said of the course: “It was very inclusive and had things for every ability, but still made everyone feel good and allowed us to create full-on songs in a little amount of time. It was so fun!”
